A mix between pop music and Reggaeton was released in the year 2017 by singer from Puerto Rico Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. It has become the most streamed track at that period within a span of 6 months. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs from 2016 as opposed to two in 2015. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, however, 19 mostly Spanish songs made it to the top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in 2017. Then, numerous pop stars began to collaborate with reggaeton singers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna worked with Maluma in the creation of Medellin. In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton performers were lamenting the genre's direction toward the mainstream, but a new generation namely Rauw Alejandro, sought to ensure that reggaeton was evolving. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music and other styles was a common practice.
